Grow Ltd’s ‘Homes for Wildlife’ project has won top prize and a significant cash injection in the 2021 Insurance Corporation Conservation Awards.

The £2,500 prize was awarded to the centre for a project focused on producing recycled and sustainable homes for wildlife.

Meanwhile, the Le Vallon D’Or Woodland project in Sark took the runner up spot, for its push to conserve and restore the surrounding woodland habitat.

A new Lockdown Award was introduced this year and was given to the Pollinator Project, who engaged numerous members of the community throughout lockdown, promoting the conservation of nature.

Additionally, the Young Conservationists Award went to La Houguette School Eco Club; the £500 Best Education Project Award was taken by the Alderney Wildlife Trust for their ‘Exploring Our Seas’ initiative; and the Unsung Hero Award went to Angela Salmon for coordinating the Guernsey Conservation Volunteers.

Finally, the Peter Walpole People’s Choice Award – named after the founder of the competition – was given to the Guernsey Marine Litter Project, managed by Richard Lord.
