Pop-up bar brings an 'après ski' feel to town

Friday 06 December 2024

A new, temporary, après ski bar has opened in the centre of St Peter Port - with a fantastic response so far, said the team running it.

Based in what used to be Koi-Koi, the Yeti Bar opened last week - with opening dates increasing in frequency as we get closer to Christmas.

The Yeti Bar is the brainchild of the Mobile Bar Co., which is a local business concept proving a cocktail bar service for weddings, parties, and other social events.

When the team at the Mobile Bar Co. heard that the former Koi-Koi premises was available for a short term lease, they came up with their Yeti Bar idea - and so far, it's going great they said.

"When we found out that Randalls was looking for someone to take on the site for a short-term lease, we saw it as an exciting opportunity to bring our mobile bar business into town," said co-Leaseholder and Bar Manager Sam Taylor.

"Normally, we operate through The Mobile Bar Co., providing a cocktail bar service for weddings and parties etc, but this venture gave us the chance to showcase what we could do with a fixed location, especially during this magical time of year. We wanted to offer the people of Guernsey something different in St Peter Port for the festive season and have some fun along the way.

"This venture wouldn’t have been possible without the roster of extremely talented and committed staff at The Mobile Bar Co. Many of them have spent years in hospitality and now work in other industries, yet they still make time to join us in their spare time to share in our passion for hospitality."

"The launch went really well, with a fantastic turnout, and we’ve received great feedback about the concept and atmosphere," Mr Taylor added. "The first weekend was particularly lively, with customers enjoying the Après Ski vibe and the cocktails we’re offering."

The pop-up bar is open tonight and tomorrow, and next Friday and Saturday too. Then it is open every night from Wednesday 18 December through until Christmas Eve.

The staff are taking Christmas Day off before reopening between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve, with 28 December set aside for a private party already. They'll also be open on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 January.

"We will generally be open at 5pm until 12:30am, but we will be updating our social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook for The Mobile Bar Co. week by week with details of the hours we will be open and what DJs will be playing," said Mr Taylor.
