Pop-up proposed at Koi Koi

Wednesday 18 September 2024

The new owners of the former Koi Koi bar in town are offering it for lease with the option of a 'concept testing' or 'pop-up' bar/restaurant.

The former owner closed the business earlier this year.

Since then the building has been sold, for more than £600,000, with Randalls now advertising the opportunity for a short term lease at the central town site.

"We have a unique opportunity to operate a fully equipped turnkey bar/restaurant in the centre of St Peter Port on a short term lease," reads the advert.

"Ideal for launching a pop-up or testing new concepts.

"Koi Koi has a complete kitchen, stylish bar, and seating for 70 patrons. Located in a high-traffic area, it's perfect for immediate operation with minimum set-up.

Randalls declined to comment at this stage.

The main Koi Koi bar and restaurant is on Lefebvre Street, near the High Street. The property has been a bar and restaurant for many decades with previous businesses such as the Red Onion, Buzz Bar, and Rock Garden all operating out of there.

Koi Koi and its sister establishment Koi Koi Express in the Pollet closed in May, with their respective social media disappearing and the business' website taken offline.

The former owner, Dom Watson later confirmed to Express that he had left the island and had no intention of returning to reopen either eatery.

Customers who had paid deposits for large bookings were given refunds.
