Lottery jackpot climbs past £500k

With a fortnight until the draw, first prize in the Channel Islands' Christmas Lottery has now gone over half a million pounds.

The jackpot is one of more than 60 prizes in total. Other prizes vary between £500 and £50,000.

First prize has reached £518,000 as tickets continues to sell. Last year, the jackpot reached just short of £700,000. 

Tickets cost £2 for the second year in a row after they were reduced from £3 for last year's draw. 

The 2021 tickets went on sale on 4 October. First prize started at £300,000. It will continue to increase as more tickets are sold in the run up to the draw, which takes place in Jersey on 23 December.

Senior Lottery Officer in Guernsey, Jon Taylor, said the current jackpot total means the prize pot has grown by more than £100,000 since the start of last week.

“This is great news for a potential winner or winners," said Mr Taylor.

"It’s also important to remember the CI Lottery games raise millions of pounds for local charities and worthy causes throughout the Channel Islands.” 

Among the good causes to have benefited from the profits of the Channel Islands' Christmas Lottery in recent years are Grow Limited, the Boys' Amalgamated Boxing Club and the Guernsey Cheshire Home.
