There’s a host of locations the public can drop off their spent Christmas trees for recycling free of charge as the festive period draws to a close.
Between 27 December and the end of January old trees can be dropped off at Queux Plant Centre, Le Friquet Garden Centre, Chouet Green Waste site and the Longue Hougue Household Waste & Recycling Centre.
Over 6,000 trees are expected in the coming weeks, which are shredded and composted on site once collected and converted into soil conditioner as usual with green waste.
This soil conditioner can also be collected free of charge to promote the health of domestic land.
Guernsey Waste Minimisation and Sustainability Manager, Tina Norman-Ross, said the trees will be put to good use after the big day.
“Not only is it great for the environment, but it is also a very convenient way to dispose of them and we hope that having so many drop-off points makes this as easy as possible,” she said.
