Guernsey's shooters won five medals on Day One of the 2023 Island Games, including the very first medal for the host island, with Sark's shooters also claiming their first medal of the week.
Paul Guillou (pictured top) won gold alongside Luke Malcic in the team 10m Air Rifle. Guernsey's Andrea Guillou and Amy Woodland came third, while Jersey's Paige Fryer and Elizabeth Hart took silver.

Guernsey's Andrew Torode and James Straughan also won gold in the team Police Pistol 1 event, while Torode won gold in the individual police pistol event.

There was also a bronze medal for the men's Olympic Trap Team of Darren Burtenshaw and Alex Williams. They came joint third alongside the Faroe Islands, while a shoot-off determined that Menorca won, with Sark taking silver.
Nicholas Dewe and Stefan Roberts are two of Sark's three-strong Island Games team, making them the smallest squad in the 2023 Games.
Sark's Elizabeth Norwich competes in the Archery, starting with the Women's Recurve tomorrow.
