The two Channel Island petanque teams competing in the European Men’s Triples found it tough going.
It was the first time that Guernsey had entered the tournament.
They lost all five matches in the qualifying round to find themselves bottom of the table of 34 nations at the Boulodrome in Albertville, south-eastern France.
They were then entered into the preliminary round of the Nations Cup, for the teams that do not finish in the top 16, where they lost to Wales.
Earlier in the competition they were on the wrong end of a straddling comeback by Jersey.
Guernsey were 10-2 up, only for their neighbours to win the next eleven points.
It was one of two victories achieved by Jersey, the other against Lithuania.
Jersey finished in 28th place overall.
They went through to the first round proper of the Nations Cup only to lose 13-7 to Norway, although they put up a fight having been 12-nil down at one stage.
