Roger that! Perrot Court unveiled

Elizabeth College has opened a new educational building dedicated to one of its most iconic benefactors, the late Roger Perrot.

The former advocate, deputy and philanthropist, who died aged 72 last year, has been immortalised by the College.

Elizabeth College completed the purchase of the building next door to the main school site, Canada Court, in January through its ‘Chance of a Lifetime’ Appeal and a generous legacy in Mr Perrot's will.

The building has since been renamed in honour of Mr Perrot, who Elizabeth College Foundation Chair Russell Clark said had contributed a "significant" amount.

“The purchase of Perrot Court was the first aim of the Chance of a Lifetime Appeal and this event is to show our donors the fantastic results of their generosity," he said.

"Roger’s contribution was significant, and it was only appropriate to name the new building, which he knew would be transformational to the College’s facilities, after him.

Mr Perrot's legacy has also enabled the school to move forward on plans to establish a means-tested Foundation Bursary Scheme, which is currently seeking additional funds to maintain and grow the offer.

"We know that Roger would be even more delighted that the success of the Appeal has also led to the launch of the Foundation Bursary Scheme," said Mr Clark. "We are indebted to every one of our donors for the kindness and generosity they have shown.”

His Excellency the Lt-Governor Sir Ian Corder unveiled the plaque bearing Mr Perrot's name.

"It is an endorsement of the extensive College community that this building has been able to be purchased through individuals donating to what is a very worthwhile cause. To rename the building after Roger Perrot, in recognition of all that he has done for the College, is a fitting tribute.”
