Beau Sejour pools closed for a month this summer

Both pools at Beau Sejour will close to the public for around a month this summer to allow for scheduled maintenance to take place.

The pools will shut on Monday 18 July and re-open for use on Monday 15 August. The States say the summer period is historically when the pools are used less frequently.

In anticipation of the 2023 NatWest Island Games, the pool’s surrounds will be entirely replaced in addition to the replacement of cracked windowpanes and a deep clean of the facility.

It is hoped the works will benefit all customers and the hundreds of sportspeople who will be visiting the island next summer.

Sam Herridge, Head of Recreation Services at the States, said they would be unable to provide alternative indoor swimming arrangements during the maintenance period, citing ongoing staffing pressures.

“Customers can be reassured we have scheduled this closure during the summer months when historically footfall to our pools is at its lowest. As a result, we hope this closure will impact as few customers as possible. Instead, we encourage customers if they are able to, to perhaps enjoy a sea swim at the many beautiful beaches that Guernsey has to offer," he said.
