The Committee for Health & Social Care is reminding islanders that only one guest is permitted to attend baby scan appointments, claiming that too many attendees can distract the sonographer.
The Committee added that an “increasing number of people” have been attending appointments recently, including extended family members and young children.
Only one guest has been allowed to be present at scans since 1 January 2021. They must be an adult, or over the age of 14, and they “must be able to sit quietly” throughout the “detailed” examination.
Alistair Richards, Radiology Services Manager, said: “We need to ensure that concentration is maintained, and important observations are not missed in order to provide the best possible service we can for those who are pregnant."
