Health and Social Care staff once again have the opportunity to win thousands of pounds towards projects in Guernsey.
The Insurance Corporation Healthcare Bursary has been launched today and is now in its 28th year.
Over the years it has supported a range of local initiatives, including the 'IRIS Project' which took the top prize of £2,000 last year. The team behind the project has introduced electronic assisted communication to improve midwifery services in Alderney.
"In 1991 our Healthcare Bursary was founded when we realised healthcare employees with innovative ideas had no obvious method of obtaining funding or support to make their concept a reality," said Insurance Corporation HR & PR Executive, Michelle Arundale. "As a local business, we felt it was important to help out and offer a solution. That was 28 years ago and we have been running the competition every since.
"There have been some incredible entries from some very hard-working and talented people for us to consider. Understandably, we are very proud to have made this contribution to local life for so long, and long may it continue."
The 2018 runner-up prize was awarded to two HSC employees who hoped to improve bereavement care in the emergency department and families through their grieving process.
"Having been part of the judging panel over the past five years, I continue to be amazed with the commitment and innovation shown by the entrants," added Ms Arundale. "Each year, the competition has been strong and narrowing down the shortlisted finalists has always been challenging. I am looking forward to being part of the judging process again this year."
Entry forms for this year's competition are available here or from the Health and Social Care Human Resources team. All forms must be returned by 7 October.
A selection panel will meet on 31 October to hear more from the shortlisted candidates, and that will be followed by a final presentation day on 13 November.
