Lottery jackpot hits £420k with under a week to go

Friday 13 December 2024

The Channel Islands Christmas Lottery first prize has risen to £420,000 ahead of the draw next Thursday.

Lottery agent, Guernsey Post says this year has seen an increase in syndicate purchases, prompting dedicated services for group ticket buying.

The company says with syndicate winners claiming the top prize in the last few years, sales to groups, work colleagues and corporate syndicates have seen an increase so a dedicated telephone service was set up for those wanting to buy blocks of tickets for the draw.

This “dedicated service” is provided by Guernsey Post locally, whilst in Jersey would-be syndicates are buying through lottery distributor JJ Fox. The Guernsey number to call is 01481 733570, whilst for Jersey it’s 01534 511000.

Jon Taylor, the Head of Lottery for the States of Guernsey said: “This year we have had two Christmas games on sale. The Extravaganza instant game and the traditional Christmas Draw Game.

“Sales of the Draw Game are now starting to pick up, with still a week to go. The first prize, will rise further and with 67 prizes in total, there’s plenty of opportunities to win this year whichever island bags the top prize.”
