Changes made to Guernsey's Battle of Flowers

Wednesday 25 July 2018

The North Show’s Battle of Flower's class entry list has remained the same for years, but the organisers have decided now is the time to shake things up.

Battle of Flower's co-ordinator Emma Sarre, said they wanted to take onboard comments and suggestions from past exhibitors to make some “positive changes.”

“The decorated bicycle class has been hugely popular in recent years and so we have split this into two classes – junior and open.  This is to give even more people opportunity to succeed in their class and to recognise the hard work and effort that people put in.

“In the real flower exhibits, we have consolidated all of the classes into three.  These will essentially be hand drawn or pushed, motorised vehicle and trailer classes. We have tried to become more flexible within the bigger classes in an effort to encourage more entries from individuals, families and groups alike.”

It was hoped the changes would “ensure we have a number of entries in each class, making the friendly competition” between exhibitors a bit more exciting.

Anyone who has entered using last year’s classes will be contacted to make sure they are in the right class.
