The Guernsey Street Festival ended with an awards ceremony where four young performers were recognised.
Judges observed performers throughout the two-week event to decide the winners across four categories including over and under 18 performers of the year, best newcomer and a performer who represented the spirit of the festival.
One of the judges, Laura Simpson, said the festival was “a testament to the wide range of artistic skills in Guernsey”.
“I’ve heard a lot of audience members talk about how talented everyone was, which of course is true, but I want to highlight the thousands of hours all these artists dedicate over many years to developing their craft. That’s the part that so often gets forgotten,” she said.

The award winners were announced on 6 August at the Duke of Richmond Hotel. The event included an open-mic, dinner and drinks and performances.
Amelia Garn won the award for best newcomer. “I was really pleased and grateful when I was offered a place to perform in the festival. I can’t believe I won this award; I’m still buzzing,” she said.
“I did my first ever open mic at the awards party, and it was so much fun. I have loved singing around town; people have been so kind and supportive. It’s just been such a rewarding experience especially when you see people giving you a big smile as they walk by.”

Ivy Botzenhardt won the award for Over 18 Performer of the Year, while the Under 18 prize went to Ocean White.
Singer Oscar Armenta, who was recently featured on the Love Island soundtrack, was given the award for the performer who best represented the spirit of the festival.

Festival Founder, Claire Dawson, thanked everyone involved.
“Thank you so much to everyone that attended the awards party. It was such a fantastic evening which rounded off a successful Guernsey Street Festival. And congratulations to the recipients of the four awards - they were all thoroughly deserving winners,” she said.
“Thank you also to the three amazing judges: Laura Simpson, Claire Cathcart and Alan West for their valuable experience and for choosing our worthy winners.”

Organisers said the end of the festival did not mark the end of performances in town this year. “Our Candie Concerts will continue every Sunday afternoon 3-4pm at Candie Gardens through to the end of September,” they said.
