Rotary Club elves are calling upon generous islanders to ensure that this Christmas is extra special for deserving island youngsters.
Christmas present tags for the Rotary Club’s annual Tree of Joy present-giving campaign are being picked up quicker than ever and gifts must be handed in by Friday 11 December at the latest.
The light Tree of Joy was illuminated by 5 year old Ethan Leale on 26 November to mark the start of the campaign which gives islanders the chance to purchase gifts for deserving Bailiwick children.
Once purchased, gifts can be wrapped, have the tag attached and be returned to the same business that the tag was collected from.
Nigel Dorey, a member of the Rotary Club’s Tree of Joy organising committee, said: “The uptake of tags has been fantastic this year and it’s great to see islanders getting into the Christmas spirit.
“The gifts must be handed in by Friday 11 December so that our very own Rotary elves can sort them and get them ready for delivery – so we’d like to encourage anyone who’s taken a tag to get wrapping.”
The Tree of Joy campaign is supported by Sure, Deutsche Bank and Long Port.
Members of the public can still pick up present tags, which will have a description of the present they can purchase, from Aladdin’s Cave, Barclays on the High Street, Creasey's Toy Shop, Guernsey Post Office, HSBC on the High Street, Josef of Switzerland, all branches of Lloyds TSB and NatWest and the Sure shop on the High Street.
