Les Bourgs Hospice forced to cancel Light up a Life service

MEDIA RELEASE: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and not Bailiwick Express, and the text is reproduced exactly as supplied to us

Due to the increasing numbers of positive Covid-19 cases in the island Les Bourgs Hospice has taken the difficult decision to cancel its annual Light up a Life service which was due to be held at the Town Church on Sunday 5th December 2021.

This event was also going to include elements of the 30th birthday Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance which had to be postponed in January.

The Directors and staff would like to invite all islanders to light a candle in their homes at 5pm on Sunday 5th December 2021 to either remember a loved one or take a moment of personal reflection.

The Town Church has very kindly agreed that the Hospice’s entry into their Christmas Tree Festival can become a Light up a Life Tree for special tags with names and memorial messages to be hung.

Please either cut out and complete the form below or collect a form from the Hospice charity shop and post it to: Light up a Life, Andrew Mitchell House, Rue du Tertre, St Andrew, GY6 8SF. Please make cheques payable for any donations to “Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice”. To keep costs to a minimum donations will not be acknowledged on this occasion.

The Christmas Tree Festival will be held in the Town Church from Monday 6th December 2021 to Monday 3rd January 2022.

Les Bourgs Hospice would like to thank the island Community for its support and we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year.
