PostWatch Guernsey needs a new Chairperson

Friday 01 November 2019

PostWatch Guernsey is seeking a new Chairperson to take over from the current Chairman whose term of office expires in April 2020.

The voluntary group is independent of Guernsey Post and aims to represent the interests of all the users of Guernsey Post Limited’s services.

Its role has developed over the years from that of a similar body set up in the early 1990s.

Bryan Guilbert, current Chairman of PostWatch said:

“We recently advertised for someone to take over at the helm, but unfortunately to date have not received any expressions of interest. We are advertising again in the hope that a suitable candidate will come forward. I have found my time on PostWatch, in particular the last few years as Chairman, as really rewarding, knowing that I have helped to ensure a local institution (Guernsey Post) continues to offer high levels of service. I am sorry to say that if we still receive no suitable applicants for the role then the future of PostWatch Guernsey will be in doubt. That would be an unfortunate step backwards, having had constructive input into Guernsey Post’s activities for nearly 30 years.

Boley Smillie, Chief Executive of Guernsey Post added:

It is important that the two organisations are independent of each other so it may seem unusual that I am adding my voice to this call for a suitable volunteer, but we have been grateful for the work of PostWatch over the years and we really do hope a new Chairperson can be found so that the constructive dialogue can continue. Everyone in Guernsey receives services provided by Guernsey Post and all that is needed is someone willing to devote some of their valuable time to this community-orientated body.”

The closing date for applications is 10 November, and there is more information at guernseypost.com/postwatch-chairperson
