Data protection drop-in for Alderney residents

Friday 05 April 2024

The Office of the Data Protection Authority will again be visiting Alderney to promote digital rights to the Alderney community.

It follows a successful visit last year to ensure the public knows the obligations of individuals and companies and where to access support.

The drop-in will be at the Georgian House on 12 April between 14:00 to 16:00, with all invited to attend.

It will be the first time that Bailiwick Data Protection Commissioner Brent Homan has travelled to Alderney.

"Alderney is a vital part of the Bailiwick, and local businesses handle significant volumes of the personal data that flows through our islands. Data Protection plays an important role in our economy and supports our reputation as a jurisdiction committed to maintaining the highest standards,” he said.

“We also want to ensure that Alderney’s regulated community benefits from the same one-to-one support as their Guernsey counterparts.”

Anyone planning to attend the drop-in session who has a specific topic they would like to discuss, or who would like to book a specific time slot, are encouraged to contact the ODPA in advance by emailing communications@odpa.gg.
