Come on shops - get Christmassy!

Town retailers are urged to get festive and decorate their windows, as part of an annual competition aimed at boosting Christmas trade.

Any wanting to take part need to be registered by Monday 11 November, so the judges can be prepared to view all participating premises.

All windows registered will be put on the voting page on christmaslights.gg  and they will be asked to display a poster showing they are in the competition. The public will be able to vote for their favourite Christmas themed window in town between the 1 and 14 December.

There is no criteria for the competition, other than ‘Christmas’ and the winner will simply be the window with the most votes. The winning window will be awarded with the silver trophy on the last late Thursday shopping night.

Jax Robin, Chair of the St Peter Port Christmas Lights Committee said it is "a great way for businesses to give our town a real festive feel.

"By entering their windows and asking people to vote for them, they will encourage footfall.  The more people who come to town, the more chance there is for them to purchase locally. Let’s create a great festive community feel.  I for one look forward to seeing all the decorated windows.”

Natalie Maides, Vice Chair of Guernsey Retail Group LBG and Franchise owner United Colors of Benetton said;

“I applaud Jax and the team for organising this competition and for their efforts with raising funds for the Christmas lights. I really hope the general public enjoy this festive fun. It’s a great way for the public to wonder the streets of St. Peter Port, seeing all the festive decorations, whilst seeing all the fantastic products available on our local high street.”
