Blue Islands has been awarded contracts from tour operators in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland to help visitors get to the Bailiwick in 2020.

The airline will be providing the operators with charter services to both Guernsey and Jersey, flying from Zurich, Rotterdam, Gronigen and cities across Germany.

Rob Veron, Blue Islands' CEO, said: “Partnering with specialist tour operators focused on niche markets such as Guernsey and Jersey is essential to the prosperity of our islands. As a local airline, Blue Islands is committed to the continued reinvigoration of our visitor economies and we once again look forward to welcoming guests on week-long stays to truly discover our beautiful islands.”

Walter Fink, Rolf Meier Reisen Director, added: “We have operated to the Channel Islands since 1987 and now in our 12th year of activity with Blue Islands, chosen for its flexible and bespoke service to meet our requirements and deliver an excellent experience for our guests. Thanks to Blue Islands’ unique position as a true Channel Islands operator we are able to offer holiday products to both islands meaning even more choice for our customers using the optimal 68-seat ATR 72 aircraft.”

With two weeks added for the summer 2020 programme, visitors from Zurich will be arriving every Saturday for a 20-week period, between 2 May and 12 September, while visitors from Rotterdam will be arriving on Sundays between 26 April and 6 September, again a 20-week period. This year saw the inaugural nine-week Groningen charter service to Guernsey which sees an extra eight weeks added to the summer 2020 season with flights every Sunday for a 17-week period between 26 April and 16 August.

Mr Veron added: “We are delighted to once again be chosen by Rolf Meier Reisen to fly its guests from Zurich to Guernsey and Jersey and that Sunair has again selected Blue Islands to serve its guests from Rotterdam and Groningen which has been extended by eight weeks.”

This news follows the recent announcement of Blue Islands' forthcoming charter activity in partnership with Globalis, flying visitors from Germany to Guernsey and Jersey for 2020 between 18 April and 21 June. The programme which sees inbound flights on Saturdays and Sundays from different German airports is designed to welcome visitors to the Channel Islands in the shoulder months. The initial 10-week phase is followed by a second seven-week period between 12 September and 25 October.
