Guernsey Football Association search for new men's manager

Tuesday 26 September 2023

The hunt is on for a new manager to lead Guernsey’s men into the next Muratti and beyond.

Tony Vance stepped up in the summer ahead of the last clash with Jersey and the Island Games, but had voiced his wish to see others develop into the role.

The Guernsey FA is also on the hunt for a new manager to oversee the Under 21s.

In its post about the senior job, the GFA stated that: “Ideally you should have extensive experience within football and be able to demonstrate a knowledgeable understanding of Guernsey football.

“The successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of football tactics and be able to outline detailed plans for the future success of the Guernsey Senior Men’s Representative team.”

The successful candidate will have responsibility to oversee preparations for the annual senior representative fixture program, including the Muratti and Island Games.

Guernsey are on a miserable run in the Muratti.

They lost 2-1 at home in May, but never looked like getting a result.

Since 2014 they have won just once in eight ties.

Guernsey failed to qualify for the semi-finals at the Island Games this year. They beat Gozo 1-0 in the fifth v sixth play-off.
