"World first" seaweed cream launched for cycling event

A "world first" anti-chafing cream - made locally entirely from seaweed - has launched in time for a cycling event on Sunday.

Lube UP!, has been produced by Guernsey Seaweed in collaboration with sporting charity Only Fools and Donkeys.

The all-natural product - made using over 35% seaweed gel made from whole local seaweeds, shea butter and oils - is designed to prevent irritation in sensitive areas for anyone, including athletes on long hilly rides.

After the successes of Guernsey Seaweed's hand sanitiser, skincare ranges, and bath products, this "world first" chamois crème was made in collaboration with Only Fools and Donkeys, with £4 from every tin sold being donated to good causes.

Thanks to sponsorship from Rocq Capital, free samples of the cream have already been given to more than one hundred cyclists taking part in Sunday's 'The Only Way is UP!' event, which challenges riders to take on up to 25 hills around Guernsey.
