A TikTok video posted by Jose Pires of him riding his motorbike one-handed down Forest Road at up to 95mph has been released by police with a stark warning.
In the Magistrates’ Court, the 28-year-old was sentenced to four months in prison and banned from driving for four years for dangerous driving.
The video was captioned: "just another day on Jose World" with laughing emojis.
“We wanted to share the video today as a reminder: ‘showing off’ through social media does not make what you are doing cool or impressive.
“Driving at these speeds is hugely dangerous and puts your life at risk. But it also puts the lives of the public and other road users at risk.
“Driving at those speeds gives you no time to react, and it would only take one lapse in judgement to end another person’s life or your own.
“There is a reason speeds this excessive are serious criminal offences, and as we have in this case, our officers will rigorously pursue any cases of dangerous driving that come to our attention.”
