Vive La Vallette takes the next step

Wednesday 11 March 2020

The group behind the proposed reimagining of La Vallette has put its plans in for consideration, hoping to get permission to redevelop the areas around the kiosk.

Released earlier this year, the plans include designs for the changing rooms and toilets, and a new look for the kiosk and the addition of a new outdoor entertainment space.

The initial plans were released in November last year, with DLM Architects behind the designs after working with other interested parties on the tender.

The working group styled itself Vive La Vallette, and submitted its initial ideas to the Seafront Enhancement Group, which is working on wider plans to redevelop certain areas on the St Peter Port coast.

Since the original plans were submitted, feedback has been submitted to the plans and the Vive La Vallette team said it has been taken on board and used to amend the plans.

On behalf of DLM Architects, David De La Mare said:

“Following a successful period of public engagement, and some encouraging support and feedback from general users, community groups, planning and government we are pleased to submit our detailed proposal to planning.  We are excited to be involved with this project that will not only meet the needs of our present community but also be a valuable asset for future generations of users. The development will enhance one of Guernsey’s most beautiful and unique areas making it  more accessible and welcoming for the whole island.”

Vive La Vallette was selected as the preferred party to redevelop the site in late April 2019 by the Seafront Enhancement Group.
