Tractor run returns!

Saturday 17 December 2022

The Guernsey Christmas Tractor Run is back for a second year of festive run, raising money for Wigwam as the machines make their way slowly around the island.

Starting from Les Beaucamps High School tonight, the drivers will make their way around a new route, which will take them along some coast roads with some turns inland to pass residential areas.

The cavalcade will leave Les Beaucamps at 18:00, head towards the west coast, before following the coast road all the way round until they reach town. The tractors will head up Fountain Street and Colbourne Road before heading towards the airport, the Mallard and back towards the west coast before stopping at Vistas.

This second event came about after the hugely popular inaugural event last year saw more than two dozen tractors take part, with hundreds of spectators at different parts of their route.

Organiser, Matthew Spruce said then that as "...no-one has done this before in Guernsey. We just said that we were going to do it and we didn’t give ourselves very long to get it organised."

They've had a year to plan the second and the organisers have this time said: "Following the huge success and support we received last year, we have decided that this year we want to take the opportunity to give back to the community and help make a difference by raising funds the charity."

They charity they've chosen is Wigwam.

Wigwam "offers friendship, support and advice to the families of children and young people with additional needs".

The Justgiving page has already collected a few hundred pounds and there will be opportunities to donate during the tractor run this evening.
