There have been three nominations ahead of an election to find a new Jurat in Guernsey.

The post will be vacant after the retirement of Niall McCathie, who is due to stand down as Jurat this Spring.

The nomination period for the vacant office closed on Friday, with the Bailiff having received three nominations.

They are:

  • Anne Bernadette Setters; proposed by Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen and seconded by Deputy Jane Stephens.
  • Jonathan Richard Beck; proposed by Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez and seconded by Deputy Michelle Le Clerc.
  • Felicity Jane Quevâtre-Malcic; proposed by Deputy Heidi Soulsby and seconded by Deputy Peter Ferbrache.

The States of Election will meet on Wednesday 26 February to choose the new Jurat.

The States of Election currently comprises the Bailiff and the Law Officers, the Jurats, the eligible Rectors, the People’s Deputies and 34 Douzaine Representatives.  All have a vote except for the Bailiff who may only vote in the event of a tie.
