Vale hosts first tax drop-in

Wednesday 22 May 2024

With some people finding Wheadon House difficult to access, the Revenue Service has arranged a 'drop-in-session' in the north of the island to help people fill in their tax returns.

The paper forms have been extended to 39 pages to match the online system exactly.

Revenue Service officials have admitted they want people to use the online service where possible, but acknowledging that some people can't or don't want to, they are offering help to fill in the new-look longer paper forms.

Drop-in sessions at Edward T Wheadon House in the Truchot, where the Revenue Service is based, started earlier this month - but next week one will also be held at the Vale Douzaine room. Future ones are planned for other parishes too.

Nicky Forshaw, Director of the Revenue Service said it's all about helping those who need it.

“We recognise that some customers need additional in-person support with their tax return but find it difficult to get to Edward T. Wheadon House," she said.

"This session is designed specifically to help these customers as the Vale Douzaine has easy access and parking. Customers will also be able to sit while they are served.

"This is the first in a series of out-of-town drop-ins with further sessions planned for St Saviour’s Community Centre and St Martin’s Parish Hall in the coming weeks. Full details of these sessions will be announced in due course.”

It will be held in the Howard Collas Room at the Douzaine on Tuesday 28 May, between 09:00 and 16:00 and is open to people living anywhere in the island, not just Vale residents.

Revenue Service staff will be there to help members of the public register for online filing if they wish to. You can also pick up a paper tax form if required.

Staff will be there to help you fill in either online or paper tax returns, and to answer general tax queries.

Anyone who wants help with online filing should bring a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone with them.

Further drop-in sessions for anyone who'd like help filing their personal tax return online are also being held at Wheadon House from 08:45 to 16:00 at the customer counter on level 3 on the following dates:

• 10 June
• 8 July
• 12 August
• 9 September
• 7 October
• 11 November
• 16 December
