Sustainable Market launches today

Monday 27 May 2019

As more people look for ways to shop in an environmentally conscious manner, a new Sustainable Market is being launched in Guernsey today.

The first is being held today at Les Cotils between 13:00 and 16:00 but going forward they'll be held on the last Sunday of every month until October.

The organisers of the St Peter Port Sustainable Market say it offers; "an opportunity to shop in a more sustainable way" with a variety of items prepared for sale including the option of bulk buying and plastic free shopping.

Among the goods available to purchase will be local artisan food and products from firms including Smithfield Farm yoghurts, Doggie Deli, Halo Eats and others.

Guernsey meat, fish, fruit and vegetables will be among the food products for sale, while locally made jewellery, craft and clothing will also be available alongside fresh flowers.

Shoppers are reminded to take along their own containers, as the idea is to produce as little waste as possible.
