Strikes in Jersey stunt Condor sailings

A Condor sailing from St Malo to Jersey will dock in Guernsey today, as the company has rescheduled its day's trips because of strike action.

Public sector strikes on the largest Channel Island are the cause of the disruptions, as States of Jersey employees are striking over a pay dispute, which will affect the harbour's operation.

So Condor has had to announce it is being "forced" to alter its schedule, with sailings today at 08:00 and 12:30 now being combined into a single sailing at 11:50, which will be re-routed via Guernsey to allow passengers to arrive in Jersey after clearing customs in St. Peter Port.

Condor Liberation's route will therefore be: Jersey to St. Malo, St. Malo to Guernsey, Guernsey to Jersey, Jersey to Guernsey, and then Guernsey to Poole.

Speaking about the strikes in Jersey, CEO Paul Luxon said the disruption was frustrating and inconvenient for passengers, but that measures were being put in place to help them. 

"We are disappointed that the action being taken at such short notice is affecting the travel of our passengers," he said.

No other sailings are set to be affected on Guernsey, and the 12:50 arrival in the island is running on time.
