Red Arrows back for 2022 air display

The Red Arrows will be back in Guernsey this year.

Organisers of the island's annual air display confirmed this afternoon that they have secured the Red Arrows, pictured top, for the event on Thursday 8 September.

Natalie Davidson, Events Consultant at Black Vanilla, which organises the display, said: "We are delighted that we have received confirmation from the RAF Events Team that the Red Arrows and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight have been allocated to display in Guernsey this year.

"We are still waiting for the allocation of other military assets and will work with civilian display teams to build the rest of the display."

The final line up for the display will be announced later in the year.

The air display helps to:

• commemorate the lives and legacy of RAF aircrew who have served their country over the past 100+ years and ensures the continued preservation of historic aircraft which enrich the national heritage;
• celebrate the invaluable work that the RAF Association does for former and current serving personnel who need support and assistance; and
• inspire the next generation of pilots, engineers and aerospace professionals.

The air display falls in Battle of Britain Week, which is the main fundraising event annually for the Guernsey branch of the RAF Association. In 2020, over £10,000 was raised that week.​

It relies almost entirely on private funding, which allows islanders to enjoy it free of charge.
