A psychiatrist who used to work for Guernsey's States run health services, has admitted downloading thousands of indecent images of children - some of which come within the worst category punishable under law.
Greg Lydall, whose age was given during a previous court hearing as 43, spoke only to plead guilty as each of the eleven charges were put to him before the Deputy Bailiff.
During Thursday's hearing, the court heard only basic details with no mitigation yet offered by Defence Advocate, Peter Ferbrache.
He asked the court to order a social enquiry report to be written on Lydall, and said the defence would also be offering up reports ahead of Lydall's sentencing, which is due to take place at the end of October, when more details about his offences will also be given in open court.

The 11 counts Lydall will be sentenced on then include the making of indecent images of children believed to be under the age of 16, at varying levels of severity on the scale used by police and the courts. The scale goes from one to five, and Lydall has admitted making indecent images of children across each of the five levels.
The images were found stored on a variety of devices including external USB drives and SD cards.
Lydall was released on conditional bail until his sentencing date, 31 October.
