Police crackdown on town 'yobs'

With a focus on anti-social behaviour, Guernsey Police say they arrested 38 people over three months in St Peter Port during a targeted campaign.

Officers were deployed into St Peter Port and told to focus on those breaking the law through aggressive or drunken behaviour.

The campaign was designed around a 'consistent low-tolerance approach' to any anti-social behaviour, which also resulted in four warnings being given and two stop searches.

The officers on the streets of town were told to give no more than one warning before making an arrest. 

Of those arrested, 24 were male, 14 were female. The youngest was 17 and the oldest was 63.

For the last three months, we have undertaken a proactive uniformed operation in Town on Friday and Saturday nights, targeting anti-social behaviour.

In total we arrested 38 people.

Chief Inspector Le Breton described it as a "proactive and assertive no-nonsense approach" to anti-social behaviour.
