Plans to improve parking and put controls in place at Vale Church car park have been approved.
The States Traffic and Highway Services applied for permission with the Vale Commons Council to add two accessible parking spaces on an asphalt area and form other spaces using tarmac planing.
A footpath will be formed to the public highway and signage and landscaping will also be provided.

The Constables and Douzaine of the Vale supported the application, noting the car park has been "regularly abused with abandoned cars and vans over a great number of years", as well as "being used by people who do not live in the area to park commercial vehicles".
As the site is located in an area of known archaeological importance, the organisations will need to contact the States Archaeologist and Culture and Heritage Service for advice and arrangements for recording while earth is being moved.

The Planning Service found the proposals would not conflict with Island Development Plan policies on traffic and parking, and would "enhance" the biodiversity interest of the site with landscaping plans.
The proposals were found to have "no significant impact" on the landscape, character or openness of the area, and are "likely to improve the appearance".
In accordance with planning permission, work on the site should begin within the next three years.
