49 election candidates, including many incumbent deputies and a wave of new faces, have registered to stand in the first island-wide election next month in a bumper first day of nominations.
Nominations opened on Tuesday morning and will come to a close at 16:00 on Friday, when the full list of candidates will be published.
Deputy Al Brouard, who reportedly camped outside the Royal Court building from 07:00 yesterday morning, was the first to register. He was one of 19 current Deputies who have already confirmed they will seek re-election.
Some new candidates have also formally announced their plans to run for the office of States Deputy after handing in their forms, whether that be independently or as part of one of the registered parties.
