The family is invited to an inaugural ‘Joyous Childhood’ event in January put on by the States’ Early Years Team in conjunction with many charities and services offering stalls and activities.
The event is planned for 13 January at Beau Sejour between 09:30 and 12:30, and will include a clothes swap, balance bikes to try, story time, sports activities, CPR and medical training.
There will also be two screenings of the Snail and the Whale in the cinema, but the near 600 tickets issued have already been snapped up.
The States says while it is aimed at children under the age of five, there will be something for the whole family.
Ruth Sharp, Head of Early Years, said she hoped the first of its kind event would be well attended and enjoted.
“It is a free event and there will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Our brains develop faster between pregnancy and age five than any other time in our lives. Our early childhood experiences shape our brains for the future. We want to celebrate the early years and support all parents to help their children thrive,” she said.
“Every child under five years old who watches the Snail and the Whale will receive a goody bag and we would like to thank Investec and Help a Guernsey Child who have provided sponsorship for these bags.
“There will be a lot going on, with children able to take part in interactive sessions at our staging area, sing, listen to stories, be active and learn.”
