New Directors wanted at the Health Improvement Commission

Tuesday 19 October 2021

The Health Improvement Commission have put out a call for new volunteer directors to join the not-for-profit organisation and help steer its future work.

The group was created in line with Health and Social Care’s ‘Partnership of Purpose’ and supports initiatives in the Bailiwick that promote healthy lifestyles.

Any new additions will join the current five Directors who meet once every six to eight weeks.

“This is a real opportunity for someone to help the work of the Commission to develop,” said Director and Chairman, Stuart Falla CBE.

“Being part of the Commission’s Board is a rewarding way to support the current health and future health of the Bailiwick,” he said.

The commission is particularly interested in candidates who have an interest in how health inequalities can impact people’s lives.

“The Commission’s work focuses on the main behavioural causes of health inequalities, creating the conditions and everyday opportunities for good health, minimising harm from substance use, increasing physical activity levels and improving diet,” said CEO, Dr Simon Sebire.

“Seeking Board level experience in the social factors that influence these areas is a natural next step in the Commission’s evolution.”

The voluntary positions are open to anyone who thinks they have the required skills and experience.
