New Chair called up to Guernsey FC

Wednesday 25 January 2023

Guernsey Football Club have announced that Julia Hands will become its new Chairperson, replacing the outgoing and long serving Mark Le Tissier, amongst other changes to management.

Ms Hands is the driving force behind the club’s main sponsor – Hand Picked Hotels – but she also shares a passion for football, particularly Arsenal and Guernsey FC.

Mr Le Tissier has been involved with the club since its inception in 2011, helping to found GFC and serving as Chair since 2016.

A club spokesperson hoped that all fans and players would express their “sincere thanks to Mark and wish him all the best for his well-earned rest”.

The club’s Board has also reviewed the roles and responsibilities of its directors and volunteers to meet the continuing challenges and workloads involved in maintaining standards in across the club.

Paul O' Neill has joined as a director. He is known locally as the co-founder of New Street Management. He replaces Jez Robin who has stepped down after many years of service.

Ms Hands praised GFC’s passion and drive, saying “they are totally committed to the cause, and it inspired me to be involved.

“Without funding they couldn't exist, as there are huge financial commitments to be able to travel to play away and to receive away teams as well as all the other costs involved.

"All the players and organisers have day jobs too; I find this admirable.

"Guernsey fans are extremely passionate about the game; it's something I love to be a part of. They support the team here as if they were a national club. Any live game is so exciting and real – you are so close to the action and vibe of the crowds."

The club will be releasing further details soon of an opportunity for fans to meet with the Board, players, and volunteers as it outlines the vision for 2023 and offer the opportunity for questions to be posed.
