Man pleads guilty to punching his victim in the throat

Tuesday 22 February 2022

A 54-year-old man pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, including punching his victim in the throat, when he appeared in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Gregory Francis Forino was out in Town on 14 November with a former professional footballer who was not named in court.

The victim recognised the footballer and approached the pair in Amigos in the North Plantation.

There was an altercation and Forino punched the victim in the face.

He was then kicked out of Amigos.

While outside, the victim approached Forino again, and Forino punched the victim in the throat. This caused the victim to collapse to the ground.

Forino pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and acting in a disorderly manner.

He was bailed with the condition that he should not contact the victim.

A probation report is now being prepared and Forino will appear for sentencing on 24 March.
