It's always a family affair with GADOC

Friday 15 December 2023

A husband and wife, their son, brother in law and niece are among the performers in this year's GADOC Pantomime which is promising to offer more family friendly fun this Christmas.

This year’s production is Beauty and the Beast described as "a tale as old as time" "with all the hilarious twists and turns of pantomime".

Judy Moore is directing this year, with the brand new script penned by UK writer Alex Jackson.

“Alex was working on the script for Beauty and the Beast when I contacted him and as a result writing it has been a collaborative process," said Ms Moore.

"The script has been tailored to a Guernsey audience, with certain specific requirements (we need to be rude about Jersey) and discussion about local topics such as Guernsey Gâche (including how to make it rhyme).”

Set in the fictional French town of Petit Derriere, the story of a provincial girl who falls for the cursed Prince has been given "the full pantomime treatment complete with fairy rivalry, slapstick humour, local references and, of course, a glamorous, larger-than-life Dame with an eye for mischief... and handsome men!"

Steph Boscher is taking on the titular role of Belle - AKA Beauty - while her husband Tristan (pictured top) will be donning the Dame's dress. Their 9-year-old son Thomas is also treading the boards this Christmas alongside his cousin Mia and her father James Larbalestier.

The Boschers' and Larbalestiers' are just one family taking part in this year's panto - reinforcing GADOCs ethos as a family affair - with parents and children from four other families joining in the fun too.
