The ‘toe-tapping’ comedy-musical 9 to 5 is coming to Beau Sejour this Easter.

The production is based on the 1980 film of the same name which featured Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton, with music and lyrics by the latter.

The story follows the downtrodden professional lives of Violet Newstead, Doralee Rhodes and Judy Bernly who learn to stand strong against their obnoxious employer, Franklin Hart.

Director Lisa Johnston said while many may only be familiar with the title song, there is so much extra to appreciate in the show.

“There is a real feel-good factor as the story unfolds and the three principal ladies team up against the odds and show that anything is possible,” she said.

“The cast are having great fun working with innovative choreography and the superbly catchy score, and of course stepping into the late-70s workplace – with accompanying fashion and hairstyles.

“If, like me, you didn’t know of this musical until recently I urge you to come along as it is perfectly pitched for a brilliant night out.”

Eights performances are running between April 8 and 15, with a run time of two and half hours.
