HMV clearance continues today

Saturday 13 April 2019

Bailiwick Estates' is hosting another two days of its clearance sale at HMV this weekend.

Running from 09:00 today until 17:00, and from 10:00 until 16:00 tomorrow, the sale was initially planned to only run over two days last week, but the shop is being opened up again to clear the remaining stock.

All of the leftover stock is now 50% off, according to Bailiwick Estates, the managers of the Guernsey Market Buildings, but people can only pay by cash, not by card.

Speaking last Friday, Sonia Taylor from Bailiwick Estates said the first sales had gone very well: "the doors will again open at 09:00 on Saturday for a second day of the clearance sale. We estimate in excess of 900 people came through the doors last night (Thursday)."

At the sale last Thursday, there was a queue outside of the building stretching back to the Golden Lion pub at times.

Not only is the stock of HMV on sale, but so are the shop's fittings.

Items such as PS4s, CD's, Nintendos, Xboxs, Turn Tables, clothes and vinyl are all still available, with the plan for everything to be cleared by the end of this weekend.

HMV itself closed after the national company was bought out earlier in the year, and the Guernsey store was one of a number earmarked for closure. Just the next day, there were chains across the door.

What Bailiwick Estates will put in the unit next is yet to be known, but they are currently in the middle of renovating the inner market street, with plans to reinvigorate it with a number of shop stalls.
