Golf to the fore as open season enters full swing

Friday 16 April 2021

160 golfers are taking to the L'Ancresse links this morning to tee up this year's open golfing season.

The Guernsey Golf Union is holding its first open event of the golfing calendar today, hosted by the Royal Guernsey Golf Club.

The annual Team Event was postponed last year due to the island’s first Covid lockdown, but is now back again bigger than ever.

A record number of 160 players are taking part in teams of four.

20 teams will tee off by a ‘shotgun’ start at 08:30 and a further 20 will tee off at 13:30. Each team will record their top two best scores for a chance to win the new GGU Team Golf trophy.

This year’s event has proved more popular than ever, becoming over-subscribed within hours of the entry forms going online.
