People are being encouraged to help preserve the environment by gifting and planting trees on the island this Christmas.
Local charity Guernsey Trees for Life is encouraging people to #PlantGuernsey, with the launch of its festive campaign ‘Give a Tree for Christmas’.
Committee Member Colin Dodd said the campaign works in tandem with #PlantBritain, a two-year initiative aiming to get everyone planting, which was launched by BBC’s Countryfile.
“A tree is a wonderful living present to give at Christmas time and we want to encourage as many people as possible on-island to buy a tree as a gift this year," he said.
"We have partnered again with Guernsey Gardens Ltd, who is giving a generous discount on all trees purchased during this month.”
To claim a discount at Guernsey Gardens Ltd, customers must make reference to the ‘Give a Tree for Christmas’ campaign.
Guernsey Trees for Life works to encourage the protection, preservation and planting of trees, especially natives, throughout the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The charity dedicates its efforts to achieving its aims through a series of initiatives which include planting trees and delivering programmes of education and advice.
"Give a Tree for Christmas’ is not just an original gift idea," Mr Dodd concluded. "It also helps our environment and the replenishment of our island tree stocks.”
