Guernsey Sailing Trust makes some changes

Wednesday 10 April 2019

The Guernsey Sailing Trust has appointed a new management team.

Chief Instructor Clare Chapple has been promoted to Principal, while the Trust's Office Manager Sarah Creasey is taking on the General Manager role.

"We're very excited about these appointments and the future of the trust," said GST Chairman Ross Coppolo. "We're immensely grateful to Richard Klein, our departing Principal, for his role in the development of the trust and the significant growth we have seen in recent years. Clare and Sarah have been central to this development and it is great to see them stepping up to ensure it continues.

"Clare is a sailing coach with international experience and will combine her role as Principal with that of the island's Sailing Development Officer. This means we can offer a pathway for islanders from learning the ropes to enjoying recreational sailing and even competing in local and national competition.

"Sarah has experience of working with charity and volunteer organisations and will continue to manage the good running of the trust, an essential part of any well-managed charity. She will also be responsible for developing the trust's role as a champion of the marine environment and promoting the health and mental health benefits of sailing."

The trust has also appointed Human Resources professional Hayley Bradshaw to sit on the board of directors. Mrs Bradshaw is HR Manager at financial services firm Carey as well as Chair of the CSR Committee. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and has a Masters in Human Resource Management.

"Hayley's appointment to the board is a significant one for the trust," continued Mr Coppolo. "As a charity with employees, part-time employees, volunteers and significant safeguarding responsibilities, having a qualified HR professional as a director means we have access to the expertise we need to manage these complex requirements."
