Lauren Green has returned to the island to join the Medical Specialist Group as a consultant specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology.

She joins the team this morning from the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where she has been a consultant since 2019.

During her time at the John Radcliffe, Miss Green led a specialist fetal medicine clinic for women with monochorionic twin pregnancies (identical twins who share one placenta).

Miss Green was born and educated in Guernsey before undertaking her medical training at the University of Southampton with a BSc (Hons) degree in biomedical sciences.

She completed her postgraduate training in the Oxford Deanery where she also conducted clinical research studies, gaining a postgraduate diploma from the University of Oxford and publishing numerous peer-reviewed articles in international journals on maternal physiology in pregnancy.

Throughout her career, Miss Green has developed a sub-specialty in maternal and fetal medicine.

“I am passionate about providing care throughout pregnancy, which includes early pregnancy, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, sonographic assessment of fetal wellbeing and pre-pregnancy counselling,” she said.

“Working collaboratively with women and their partners as part of a multi-professional team is really important to me.

“I am excited to be returning home and introducing my husband and son to island life.”

Dr Clare Betteridge, Directorate Chair of Women and Child Health, said: “We are delighted that an obstetrician with Lauren’s extensive experience will be joining us and we look forward to working with her.”
