GSPCA welcomes extra volunteers

Sunday 02 December 2018

Over the past few weeks, the GSPCA has benefited from teams of willing volunteers from Guernsey College of Further Education Access students and Guernsey Adults with Learning Disabilities.

Each week the students have given up an afternoon in the classroom to attend the GSPCA to help with work around the Animal Shelter and care for the 500 plus animals in its care.

Both groups have been carrying out a range of work and supporting the GSPCA in its long list of daily tasks.

Tim Pellett GSPCA Community and Training Officer said “The Guernsey College of Further Education Access students have been a great help at the GSPCA. From walking the dogs to feeding the many rabbits, they have helped in many areas.

"It has also been a real pleasure and great help having volunteers from Guernsey Adults with Learning Disabilities. We  showed them around and they have helped with a number of tasks from cleaning the GSPCA ambulances to gardening around the shelter grounds.

"A huge thank you to them all for their help and we look forward seeing them again very soon.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager added: “We always love to hear from groups and individuals wanting to help us at the GSPCA. For anyone wanting to volunteer we have our next induction at 18:30 on Tuesday 4 December and all are welcome. If you are a group or business wanting to help please do get in touch by calling 01481 257261 or email stevejbyrne@gspca.org.gg.”
