GIG GUIDE: 26-28 July

Friday 26 July 2019

It's Rocquaine Regatta this weekend out west - TGIF.

The sun looks as if it will hold out for one of the most hotly anticipated events of the year.

The Rocquaine Regatta has been taking place for generations with traditional seaside competitions and games as well as live music, food and drink. A full programme of the events and their sponsors has been published for the day and is available to view online here.

"Participation is what the regatta is all about. We see it as our job as the committee to get the equipment to the right place at the right time (with some difficulty!) and after that it is all over for you," one of the organisers said.

"There is hopefully something for everybody, whether that is throwing the welly, swimming or rowing the bay."

Events begin from 10:00. There will also be free entry to Fort Grey and special events taking place from 13:00-15:00 on the grass around the fort.
