Get prepared for the King's visit

Sunday 14 July 2024

Some of St Peter Port's main roads and parking areas will be closed from today until late on Tuesday for the Motorsport Seafront Sunday followed by the Royal Visit.

Their Majesties the King and Queen will be in Guernsey on Tuesday, meaning arrangements have been made for events in town.

Before that, it's time for the Guernsey Motor Festival including a number of events and attractions, as well as refreshments at North Beach, along the quay and on the Crown Pier throughout today.

The Seafront Sunday means there is no vehicular access to the town quay between the Weighbridge Roundabout and the Prince Albert statue.

With the 'Twisty Sprint' taking place on North Beach, there is also no parking there throughout today.

Organisers have arranged for a free park 'n' ride from the top of the Val de Terres down to the seafront.

The town quay, and some of the piers, will remain closed to most motorists throughout Monday too ahead of Tuesday's Royal Visit.

With numerous parking restrictions being imposed, people are encouraged to use public transport, walk, or cycle to town if possible.

On Monday and Tuesday, the Town bus terminus will temporarily relocate to North Beach and the buses will operate a Saturday service on the Tuesday, while additional bicycle parking will be provided on the Albert Pier. Extra motorbike parking will be in place at the South Esplanade.

There will be blue badge parking on the Albert Pier and at North Beach.

There will also be further road closures in St Peter Port, for short periods, while the King and Queen are driven to and from the seafront.
