Full steam ahead for Sark Shipping’s new passenger vessel

Friday 02 July 2021

The Corsaire de Serq has completed its maiden voyage, following a series of berthing trials and seaworthiness tests.

The ship replaces the Bon Marin which finished its service of the islands last November.

The Corsaire completed a series of trips on its first day in action, ferrying students from Sark School around the island first, before members of Chief Pleas climbed aboard to take a look inside.

The Corsaire joins the Isle of Sark Shipping fleet, alongside the Venture, the Belle, and the Viking.

With the Corsaire now in action, plans to sell the Belle, which has been in operation since 2011, will move forward.

However, the market for ships such as the Belle is not ‘buoyant’ enough at the moment to confirm a sale.

“The Belle is still for sale, but the market’s not currently there for it,” said the Director of Sark Shipping, Yan Milner.
