Flight disruption after bird strike

Aurigny’s jet is out of action after a bird strike with flight disruption continuing today.

The Embraer 195 suffered significant damage to the engine cowling on Friday night, a major part that is not held as spares.

Contingency plans are in operation while it sources the parts, including using Titan Airways Airbus A320-232 to cover some of its routes.

This morning’s 7am departure to Gatwick was cancelled as was the 8.55pm return, while the 10.20 departure was delayed by more than an hour.

Guernsey Airport was kept open late at the weekend as the airline worked to get passengers to the island.

Aurigny is posting updates on its social media channels and directly contacting passengers.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused,” Auringy’s customer services team said.

“Please be assured we are doing our utmost to ensure minimal disruption to our customers' travel plans.”
